What to expect
Your First Visit
A first visit does not need special preparation. The goal is simple: come in, feel at ease, and leave with a clearer sense of the masjid and its people.
A simple arrival
Parking is available directly in front of the masjid. Shoes come off at the entrance, and someone can point you to the prayer space.
Separate prayer areas
Men and women have separate areas for prayer. You are welcome to observe quietly and ask questions before or after the prayer.
What a visit feels like
A weekday visit is usually calm and brief. Friday prayer is busier and lasts longer, so it is often the best time to meet the community.

A greeting you will hear often
السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ
As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
It means, “Peace, mercy, and the blessings of Allah be upon you.” It is both a greeting and a prayer for the person in front of you.

Sunni Islam is rooted in the Quran and the authentic Sunnah. Over centuries, four major schools of jurisprudence helped preserve that guidance with depth and method.
- الحنفي
Hanafi
Widespread in South Asia, Turkey, and Central Asia, and known for a rich legal tradition.
- المالكي
Maliki
Rooted strongly in the scholarship of Madinah and prevalent in North and West Africa.
- الشافعي
Shafi'i
Common in East Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Levant, with a careful balance of textual evidence and legal reasoning.
- الحنبلي
Hanbali
Well known in the Arabian Peninsula for its close attention to transmitted evidence.
All four are valid Sunni schools. You do not need to choose a label on day one; learn with sincerity, and let understanding deepen with trustworthy teachers.

Taking Shahada
The shahada is the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is His messenger. It is the doorway into Islam and the beginning of a new life with Allah.
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ
Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasul Allah.
“I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”

Do I need to be Muslim to visit the masjid?
No. Visitors are welcome. If you would like, contact us before you come and we will gladly help you feel oriented.
Can women attend?
Yes. Women are welcome at the masjid and there is a dedicated women's prayer space available.
Is there a dress code?
Modest clothing is recommended for everyone. Clothing that covers the shoulders and knees is a good guideline.
What language is the sermon (khutbah) in?
The khutbah may include Arabic verses and supplications, with the main reminders given in English so visitors can follow along.
Can I bring my children?
Yes. Families and children are welcome. If your children need a quieter moment, you can step out and return whenever you are ready.
What is the best time to visit?
Friday before Jumu'ah is often the easiest time to meet people, while weekdays between prayers can be a calmer time for a first look.
